NO FEES PAYABLE
TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKER PROGRAM for Care Related Employment.
There are 2 programs with limited visas being issued yearly which are now available to foreign workers- the Home Child Care Provider (HCCP) pilot and the Home Support Worker (HSW) pilot programs. Applicants must apply for and qualify for Permanent Resident status when they apply for these visas. We will be accepting a limited number of overseas applicant files for potential placement, however, we are NOT be accepting new overseas MALE applicant files at this time as we’ve had great difficulty in placing them in past .
These new visas are Employment Specific Open Work Permits and not Employer Specific. Thus Employers no longer pay travel expenses. Applicants are responsible for all costs and now begin the application process themselves. They do require a valid Job Offer. Employers & the Job Offers are now screened by Immigration immediately before a decision is made regarding work permit / visaapproval. Applicants must apply for and meet all criteria for Permanent Resident Status , except for the required 2 years related work experience in Canada, when they apply for a HCCP or HSW work permit. If approved, an Open Permit as a Caregiver is issued first to allow foreign worker to enter to Canada and begin work, while Permanent Resident status will be finalized after the required 2 years care related employment in Canada has been completed.
Applicants are able to accept positions on a Live-In OR Live-Out basis and have the ability to apply for and bring their spouse & children with them when they come to Canada. However, it is much more difficult to find employers for these candidates. Processing times are are expected to be longer for families than those for one applicant alone.

Trafalgar Personnel requires applicants to have valid IELTS Certification and an ECA assessment to verify that their level of education equates to successful completion of 1st year university / college in Canada before they complete our on-line application. The Experience criteria is vital for our out employer clients and excellent screening checks must be received before an application will be accepted for employer review. Incomplete applications will be discarded.
There are 5 organizations listed on the government website to apply for your Educational Certification Assessment (ECA.) You can use which ever one you want.

Applicants are responsible for all costs related to their applications to Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC), as this is no longer an employer specific visa . Here is an ESTIMATED COST ANALYST for single applicants under this program, although a few things are unknown ( – ie Police clearances – depends on how many needed and where from).

– ECA $280.00 (estimate)

– Permit Holder Class fee $815.00*NB.includes :processing fee $325.00 + Right of Permanent Resident Fee $490.00).
Right of Permanent Resident Fee (RPPF) of $490.00 is payable before you become a Permanent Resident . It can be paid up front when you apply to prevent any delay in processing, OR prior to obtaining PR after completing the 24 months care related employment. If paid later, Immigration will send you a letter after receiving proof you have completed the required 2 years full time paid employment, to notify you of the current RPPF fee payable and you can pay then prior to receiving PR status) . RPPF does not apply to children of the principal applicant.
– Biometrics ( fingerprints & digital photo) $ 85.00 / person , OR Family of 2 or more – $170.00.
– Medical , Blood work & X-rays $250.00 ( this is an estimated guess )
– Visa Application Center (VAC) office unknown . . . For Hard Copy applications ONLY.
– Police Clearances unknown. – needed for ALL countries the applicant has lived in for 6 months or longer since turning 18 years old.
– Flight to Canada varies depending on where coming from & when ticket is purchased.
This is a HUGE commitment with no guarantee getting a job and being able to come to Canada. These visas / work permits are limited to 2750 / year for Childcare in all of Canada, and the same number for elder care ( Home Support Worker)
All applicants will need to be willing and able to do light housekeeping duties – cleaning / laundry / cooking. All Job Offers are carefully assessed and the job description must be reasonable related to the job description / number & ages of children OR care required for a senior etc.. Care related duties are the first priority, with Housekeeping duties completed as time permits. The Canadian program requires that Caregivers / Nannies be capable of working independently without supervision and taking responsibility for the home and children or senior(s).

References: Excellent work related letters of reference and Reference Check Reports. Please note that Trafalgar Personnel does contact present/previous employers directly to obtain Reference Check Reports . The only exception would be present employers if an applicant feels it would jeopardize their current employment situation. However, in that case, there must be at least 1 excellent Reference Check Report on file, for a minimum of 1 – 2 years related experience, from at least one previous employer.

There are a few Agencies overseas which forward us screened files of potential applicants they have interviewed and screened. If we are unsure about your initial documentation received, but feel you might meet the criteria we are looking for IF a personal interview report was on file and references were checked by someone speaking a particular foreign language, we may direct you to one of those agencies. Most overseas agencies/consultants charge a fee, so it would be your decision, whether or not you decide to register with them. Trafalgar Personnel does NOT knowingly work with any agencies/consultants charging in excess of $600.00US for their services. However, although we have no control over the fees charged by any overseas agency, we would appreciate hearing from anyone who has any issues with any Agency we have recommended.
Applicants who have a current valid, clean driver’s licence for a minimum of 2 years, will be accepted with a minimum 1 year experience & positive references. Applicants who drive are always in demand. Also applicants who have completed the British NNEB/HNC 2 year college diploma will be accepted with NO full time paid experience IF they can provide a positive reference from their college tutor and have babysitting or volunteer childcare references on file. The same is true for people with College diplomas related to Special Needs Care.
